Day 6 in Boquete, Panama
8:00 am-
We left the hotel to start the city tour with our guide, Art. We drove all around town. We stop at a spot to look at a volcano and we drove through a few neighborhoods to show us how people live. We went to a animal sanctuary and the kids got to feed some monkeys and they loved the puppies and kittens. We stopped at a viewing area to look out over the city and we learned about a species of animal called the coati (part of the raccoon family). We went to a honey farm and tried so many different flavors of honey. We had no idea there are so many different ways honey can taste. The kids even enjoyed it, and they normally don't like honey. We got to try honey wine and honey liquor. It was definitely something different, very thick and sweet. After the honey we went to try a strawberry ice cream that is a famous dessert in this town. It was very refreshing. We also got to try strawberry wine, which I didn't care for. We got to try some coffee chocolate and coffee cookies that were very tasty. The kids enjoyed learning different things about the city and trying new foods.
11:00 am-
We made it back to the hotel and washed a few things.
12:15 pm-
We left the hotel and went in search of lunch. We stopped at a little Mexican restaurant. The kids ordered quesadillas. I got carne tacos and Ben got fajitas. It was a good lunch, pretty cheap compared to what we have been spending on dinner ($25 his time compared to $60).
1:15 pm-
We drove around this loop that circles back to Boquete. It had a viewing point to look out over the city. We encountered a few bulls on the road and had to wait and cross. The kids thought it was hilarious.
2:00 pm-
We stopped by a big garden and let the kids walk around. They saw butterflies and koi fish. Then two of them stepped in mud and had to be rinsed off in the small manmade stream.
3:00 pm-
We came back to the room and they took a nap.
4:00 pm-
We went to grab some ice cream. The kids had more ice cream on their face than in the cup. They were happy to get ice cream before dinner.
5:00 pm-
We went to the local grocery store and grabbed some sandwich meat and bread. We came back home and set on the patio. They had chocolate milk with sandwiches. The kids liked having "normal food" as they call it. The weather here is great.
6:00 pm-
We came back inside and started packing up and showering for an early night. Long day tomorrow.
Tomorrow will be a travel day, we are headed to Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica. Just booked two nights near the beach. The kids are excited to see a beach.
